PERSIMMON Homes has submitted a planning application to build 93 homes and apartments at York City's ground Bootham Crescent.
City chairman John Batchelor says he is "within days" of lodging his own application to build a new replacement stadium at a mystery site elsewhere in the city.
He said he just needed to "dot a few 'i's and cross a few 't's" to complete a deal to purchase an 11-acre site ideal for the construction of a multi-use stadium. Persimmon said it was proposing high-quality two and three-storey dwellings, with "an element of affordable housing", located around a central area of public open space. City of York Council would now decide whether an environmental assessment was needed to accompany the application for the 4.5 acre site, said the company. Persimmon managing director Ian Hessay and Mr Batchelor both stressed that the application was part of York City's ongoing negotiations for a new stadium. "The two issues will run in parallel."
