British Transport Police have appealed for witnesses after a deaf and mute man was assaulted at York Railway Station.
The man, who also has learning difficulties, was shoved and threatened by another man at the front of the station, close to the bus stop area. The attack, which occurred on Monday at about 11.15pm, left the man unharmed but shaken, and was reported to police by his carer.
PC Nick Storey, of the British Transport Police, said officers had interviewed a number of taxi drivers and would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at that time.
He said: "This was a cowardly attack on a vulnerable person.
"The station was busy at this time and it is quite possible that someone saw the incident."
The assailant is described as a white man, of medium build with "dishevelled" appearance and a beard.
He smelled strongly of beer.
