A NORTH YORKSHIRE school is getting £450,000 thanks to a helping hand from a local business.

The Reed Boardall Group has given Boroughbridge High School £27,000 to help it achieve specialist performing arts status. This means that the school, which was successful in its performing arts bid, will now receive a total of £450,000 of government funding.

Reed Boardall is a food cold store and distribution centre, based in the town.

Managing director Keith Boardall said: "We strongly support the ethic of being part of the local community.

"Our contribution to Boroughbridge High School demonstrates this.

"We are delighted that the school has been successful in its bid," said Mr Boardall.

Head teacher Elaine Dixon said: "We have had tremendous support to get this far and Reed Boardall's generosity has been instrumental in our success."
