NEWLY-NAMED Haxby United launched their York FA Saturday Senior Cup campaign with a 4-0 home win over South Bank.

Scott Barley forced South Bank goalkeeper Steve Lynn into a fine save early on, but Lynn could only parry Rich Iggulben's first-time shot to Dave Cruddas for a simple tap in.

Poor finishing by Haxby plus inspired goalkeeping by Lynn kept the half-time score to 1-0.

After South Bank had a goal disallowed for offside, Haxby doubled their lead when Des Drummond netted a fine solo goal.

Cruddas produced a cracking 20-yard shot to make it 3-0.

Within a minute Scott Barley made a low diving header following a cross from the right for goal number four.

Haxby had the man of the match in defender Paul Warden.

Bishopthorpe United opened the scoring after 40 minutes against Norwich Union with a close range Paul Halliday header.

Steve Purdy increased Bishopthorpe's lead on the hour with a 20-yard free-kick.

Purdy added a goal and Greg Fitzmorris netted to give Bishopthorpe a 4-0 victory.

Hamilton Panthers took an early lead against Riccall United through James Shepherd, but Jason Roughley equalised from outside the penalty area.

Early in the second half a Dave Hyde header and a close-range shot from Paul Baron put Panthers 3-1 up before Peter Minto pulled one back with a late tap-in.

Goals by Rich Millett (2), Barry Gargett, James Rudd, Neil Wilford and Charlie Bond gave Pocklington a 6-1 win over Stamford Bridge.

Civil Service entertained Dunnington at their Kirk Hammerton base, but by half-time were three goals down after a cracking shot from Andy Rose and goals from Chris Burgess and a Robby Hart header.

Dunnington added goals in the second period from substitute Chris Bowles plus a Rose solo goal, while Rob Evans netted a late goal for Civil Service.

Nestl Rowntree took the lead against Wigginton Black Horse, Steve Blake netting from the edge of the penalty area following a great through-ball from Mike Robinson.

Black Horse had chances to draw level but Nestl increased their lead when a Paul Noon pass found Andy Kennedy, who curled his shot round the Black Horse 'keeper. Noon netted again in injury time to earn Nestl a 3-0 lead.

Copmanthorpe led Thorpe United 1-0 at the interval from a twice taken penalty by Kieran Darlow.

Darlow added a second goal before Thorpe United pulled one back through Adam Garner, but Copmanthorpe hung on to win thanks to a fine display by sweeper Terry Hibbett.

Malton Bacon Factory produced the comeback of the round after Osbaldwick had taken a 3-0 lead early in the second half with goals from Kevin Jackson, Paul Crangle and Dave Watson.

A bizarre own goal gave the Bacon Factory a lift and further goals followed from Daryll Craggs (2), Simon Collins, Nicky Drew and Nick Cass, who was outstanding in midfield, to give the Bacon Factory a 6-3 triumph.

Bacon Factory's neighbours, Old Malton, had a much easier route into the second round when defeating Rufforth Utd 5-0, Phil Hill hitting a hat-trick plus a goal from Jamie Shepherd and an own goal.

Kartiers defeated St Johns' College by 5-1, all the Selby team's goals coming in the first half through Russell Seagrave (2), Martin Rowley (penalty), Matt Stephenson and Mark Lucas. St John's scorer was Mark Leash.
