DANNY Briggs could earn a run out in Rich Wilson's boots on Sunday in preparation for the Arriva Trains Cup semi-final next week.

York City Knights coach Richard Agar is considering the switch to give Briggs a week to settle back in as prop ahead of next week's epic cup challenge at Hull KR.

Agar said: "Dan Briggs's cut has healed and he's had his stitches out, so with Rich Wilson being cup tied next week, I might bring Dan in to the side a week early.

"Otherwise, we are looking pretty good."

Yusuf Sozi had a question mark hanging over him after sitting out of training on Tuesday night with a recurrence of his ankle injury but was declared fit last night.

Mick Ramsden, however, is still in the treatment room for an ankle injury of his own, and Agar has conceded that any matches Chris Smith plays this season will be a bonus with his knee problem still at least a month away from full recovery.

Agar said: "He is still about four or five weeks away. We think we will be lucky if we get much football out of Chris this season. Things might pick up and he might get half a dozen games but anything will be a bonus."

With Jim Elston and Smith still nursing various knocks and others ruled out because of non-playing issues, Agar says he is still committed to bringing in some fresh blood, although nothing is in the pipeline yet.

"Obviously we are still looking," he said. "But it's proving very difficult, not just for us, but a number of clubs at the moment.

"If we are fetching a player in, we want him to be better than what we have already got, and there just isn't anyone out there who fits into that category and is available."
