KEVIN Bowling was the hero of Pocklington RUFC's 20-19 Yorkshire Two victory over Castleford with all the Percy Road side's points.

In a bruising encounter between two promoted sides Pock edged it thanks to their fly-half's full set of two tries, two conversions, a penalty and a drop goal.

Pock started brightly and centre Guy Hope came close in the left corner before the ball span back to Bowling to pop over a drop goal.

Castleford used their big forwards to crash up the middle and two well taken penalties edged them ahead before Pocklington hit back to batter the visitors' line. The ball came out for Bowling to dance under the posts and convert.

In the second half Castleford kicked a couple more penalties and though Pocklington had more pace out wide they were unable to get men free.

They then put together a magical handling move to take play 50 yards down the right before the ball again reached Bowling for a carbon copy converted try.

Pock had to be alert in defence as Castleford launched a couple of breakaways before they booted the ball back up the other end and Bowling fired over a 37-yard penalty.

That looked to have put the game safe for Pock, but in the last minute Castleford broke clear and went under the posts for a converted try to cut the lead to a point, however, the final straight from the kick-off ensure Pock's victory.
