DRINGHOUSES stretched their unbeaten run in the Leeper Hare York and District League premier division to six games after their 1-0 win over Bishopthorpe.

Mark Woodward scored the only goal of the game but Thorpe United maintained their challenge at the top with a 2-1 win over Kartiers.

All the goals in the Selby derby came in the first half as Steve Smith put Thorpe ahead and another Dean Woods penalty extended the lead before Andy Woodhall reduced the deficit.

Huntington chalked up their first double of the season when they beat Haxby 1-0. Two opposing ex-York City players Iain Dunn and Andy McMillan both had outstanding games but Dunn had the last laugh as his 15th minute left-footed volley separated the two sides.

James Vine became the season's premier division's leading goal scorer after his brace helped Wigginton Grasshoppers beat Pocklington 3-0. Ex-Tadcaster Albion player Dominic Graham put in a superb performance as did skipper Paul Dicks who rounded off his display by scoring the third goal. Pocklington have now gone six games without a win.

Crayke slipped to their third defeat in a row in division one as they went down at St Johns College 4-1. Andrew Sherlock, Sean Thompson Chris Lees and Andrew Studdington all scored for the College side.

Matt Hildon's free-kick was not enough to save Norwich Union going down at home to New Earswick 2-1.

Rufforth recorded their second win of the season as they beat Selby RSSC 3-1, Andy Jones scoring Selby's consolation.

The Post Office v Nestl Rowntree fixture was the opening league game for both sidesbut it was Rowntrees who got off to a flier winning 3-1 with goals from Paul West and Steve Blake (2).

Division two league leaders Poppleton had to settle for a point from their visit to Stillington after a 1-1 draw. Chris Balmer scored for the fourth game in a row but Sam Gregory equalised for Stillington who registered their first point of the season.

Last season Tockwith won 6-1 at Strensall this time they romped home 5-1. Graham Hutchinson scored two in each half with Sam Tobin adding the fifth. Nigel Lyall scored for Strensall.

White Horse Church Fenton beat Civil Service at home 3-1. John Marshall opened the scoring for Horse but Joe Michele equalised just before the break. Second half goals from Scott Griffiths and Lenny Mason secured the points for White Horse.

In the division three match of the day both Sheriff Hutton and Hemingbrough were protecting unbeaten records. But a goal five minutes into the start of each half for Hemingbrough, the first from Adrian Wood, the second a Dave Young free kick maintained their 100 per cent record as they won 2-1. Kevin Butler pulled one back for Sheriff Hutton.

Moor Lane have gone for more than six hours without conceding a goal but were held 0-0 by LNER Builders, who they beat 6-0 in a cup match two weeks earlier.

York RI went top on goal difference after thrashing Cawood 10-0. Nick Hutchinson helped himself to four goals - that's nine goals in his last three games - Lee Dutton (2), Chris Elliker, Dave White and Darren Sellars all scored and to add to Cawood's misery they also conceded an own goal.

Rawcliffe' s four games this season have produced a total of 45 goals and on Saturday they were on the end of a 7-2 defeat against Norton United. Toby Brooks and Terry Taylor were Rawcliffe's scorers.

Tadcaster registered their first away win of the season beating Wheldrake 2-0.
