I WRITE about Royal Ascot at York and the blatant discrimination shown towards the disabled.
Royal Ascot Ltd is guilty of discrimination under the Disability Discrimination Act which "aims to end the discrimination which many disabled people face".
The Act also "allows the Government to set minimum standards so that disabled people can use public transport easily".
Treating a disabled person less favourably because they are disabled has been unlawful since December 1996.
Since October 1999, service providers have had to consider making reasonable adjustments to the way they deliver their services so disabled people can use them.
Service providers may have to consider making permanent physical adjustments to their premises.
A charge of £5 for parking for non-disabled and £10 for disabled is discriminatory and needs to be "named and shamed" for contravening the Disability Discrimination Act.
