CUEBALL 'B' secured the York John Smith's Ladies League Darts division one title by beating Blacksmiths Arms 10-1.

It was a good all-round team performance by the champions who were denied a whitewash by Dot Trousdale-Jackie Clemit in the doubles.

Runners-up Cygnet 'C' had Carole Layne hitting four tons as they defeated Flag 9-2 despite the best efforts of Jo West.

Independent captain Sandra Bruce led by example by hitting a maximum as they cleaned up in the pairs for a 6-3 victory at Cygnet 'A'.

Anne Smith-Mitch Robertson won the deciding game as Holgate left it late to beat Dringhouses 7-4. Slip 'A' beat their 'B' team, whose Carol Perrett scored well, 8-3.

Shepherd 'A' won the division two championship after recovering from a 3-2 deficit to take the remaining games against Jubilee. A highlight was Denise Fowler closing on 90.

An 85 close from Betty Pinder and 80 from captain Alison Buckley set up Sun 'B's win at Burnholme and secured them second spot, only one point behind Shepherd.

Slipper's Anita Adams-Vicki Middleton won the last pairs to secure victory at Sun 'A'.

Cygnet 'B' won the first three before faltering as Tap's Pauline Evans and Yvette Shepherd put them on the scoresheet, Cygnet reeling off the remaining games for a 7-2 victory. Clifton 'B' were prevented from a full house by Severus's Sue Richardson.

The top two in division three got an attack of the jitters. Champions Leeman 'C' were coasting along with a 3-1 lead against visitors Cueball 'A', whose Carol Stubbs kick-started their winning run as they pocketed the remaining games.

Woolpack held onto second spot as close rivals Leeman 'D' were prevented from a clean sweep by Pack's Sybil Chilton.

Volunteer 'A' were too strong for Cygnet 'D' whose Mo Hearfield-Jackie Pearson won their points. Volunteer 'B' were taken to the wire by St Clements whose last pairing, J Bowen-S Wharton were the match-winners.

Semi-finals night is being held this evening at Dringhouses Sports and Social Club (8pm).
