POLITICIANS may have abandoned the battle bus, but North Yorkshire police are still making good use of theirs.
They used it to take a message to drivers in York. If you want to avoid becoming a victim of car crime, add a few seconds of thinking time at the end of each journey.
Too many motorists give the thieves an easy ride by leaving valuable property on display in the car or leaving doors unlocked.
On Saturday, officers handed out advice and leaflets in Holgate Road as part of the Evening Press-backed Operation Cobra. This welcome initiative saw the police and public ganging up against the car criminals.
