One of the first things to catch a visitor's eye on entering St Michael-le-Belfrey Church, on the south side of the Minster, is an enlarged page from the registers, which began in 1565 and are complete.
The entry, dated April 16, 1570, records the baptism of Guy Fawkes, whose family lived nearby.
The register of burials is a varied cross-section of society around the church.
The present church dates back to 1525 and took about ten years to build. It contains some fine stained glass windows.
