BRIDES-TO-BE took the chance to make the perfect preparations for their big day.
York Racecourse was the venue for a day of shows and exhibitions, hosted by The Press and Yorkshire Living, which allowed couples to pick up tips and inspiration for the wedding of their dreams.
About 200 women seeking ways of making their wedding extra-special, accompanied by their partners, families and friends, strolled around 78 displays covering everything from dresses, cakes, bouquets and wedding cars to costume hire for the groom, the best man and ushers, confetti, decorations – and even how to add a special twist to the celebrations by hiring a roulette wheel or chocolate fountain.
Yesterday’s Yorkshire Living Brides event also included two professionally-choreographed catwalk shows during the afternoon.
Among those offering advice and information were HF Couture, which creates bespoke tiaras, headdresses and jewellery and has seen its work featured on TV soap Emmerdale, Riccall-based Anne Baker Floral Arts – specialising in silk flower displays – an expert wedding planner and a company offering a crèche service on the day itself.
Alison Wytchwood, business development manager for Yorkshire Living Brides magazine, said: “It’s gone really well and the feedback we have had is fantastic – we hope everybody who attended enjoyed themselves.
“We have had wonderful exhibitors who have all been of very high-quality, including many companies who are new to this event, and the interest they have received shows that if your product is good, you will do well in the wedding industry.”
The next Yorkshire Living Brides event will be held at York Racecourse on October 17.
