RUNNERS from across York and North Yorkshire laced up their trainers to do their bit for the big BBC Sport Relief push.
More than £31 million has been raised for good causes across the world by the mammoth charity effort, with events in our region contributing towards the final total.
A key part of the fundraising fun was a string of Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Miles staged yesterday across the country, with one of the charity runs being held at Rawcliffe Bar Country Park on the edge of York.
Organised by City of York Athletics Club, participants set off on a variety of courses for young and old at lunchtime and enjoyed an array of events for the family, while Selby RFC’s ground was the venue for similar one-mile, three-mile and six-mile runs for Sport Relief.
