POLICE are warning members of the public to be on their guard against door-to-door salespeople claiming to be from the Probation Service.
Officers have received a number of calls from residents across the city reporting that men have called at their door and tried to sell household items such as tea-towels and dusters. PC Amy Littlejohns of York Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “The Probation Service have not authorised such a scheme and we advise residents not to be taken in by the salesmen.”
