Pensioner, 92, died after fall

A RETIRED factory worker died of a swelling on the brain, possibly caused by a fall, a York inquest was told.

Romney Arthur Perkins, 92, of Rockingham Avenue, Tang Hall, York, died on February 23, 2009, of a subdural haematoma.

The inquest heard Mr Perkins had previously recovered from several heart attacks and strokes, but had fallen on at least two occasions in the months leading up to his death.

Coroner Donald Coverdale, read a post mortem report which stated Mr Perkins did not have a fractured skull, but had a swelling which may have been caused by a fall or minor trauma.

A verdict of accidental death was recorded.
