A TEENAGE robber from York who mugged a youth who had been a fellow pupil at his old school has escaped an immediate prison sentence.
Chelmsford Crown Court was told that Luke Wall, 19, of Ryedale Caravan Park, Osbaldwick, York, was with others when a knife was pulled on fast food delivery driver, Mohammed Rashid, of Instanbul Delight, in St Botolphs Street,Colchester, as he arrived with a £48 food order.
Mr Rashid had two carrier bags with 23 boxes of food and he decided to run and gave the bags to Wall, as the knifeman demanded money as well, said the prosecution.
The court was told that, only days before that incident, Wall and two other males had also stolen a mobile phone and wallet from a 16-year-old Colchester college student who knew Wall from their school days. The lad was punched twice by Wall as he tried to run away.
Wall pleaded guilty to the two robberies and was given 12 months in a young offenders’ institution, suspended for two years, with two years’ supervision and 80 hours’ unpaid work.
