Armed raider threatens attendant in Tanner Row car park

AN ARMED raider threatened a York car park attendant with a knife and punched him in the face before making off with cash this morning.

The incident happened at 6am in the Tanner Row car park and police are now appealing for information to help catch the man.

DC Lee Boyeson, of York CID, said the victim was “shocked and upset” following his ordeal.

He said: "I am appealing to anyone who was near the car park at the time of the incident to think back and see if they remember anyone acting suspiciously.

“It was quite early in the morning but people may have been on their way to work or on their way home from a night shift and could have seen something that will help the investigation."

The raider is described as white, around 6ft tall with a stocky build. He was dressed in a black jacket, black jeans and black shoes and was wearing a balaclava and gloves which were also black.

Anyone with information is asked to call DC Boyeson on 0845 60 60 24 7, quoting reference number 12100042352.

At last it seems that the police have stopped insisting that violent crime is a rarity in York.

Oh ye of little faith, Lamplighter. York is the safest place in the UK and a virtually crime free zone. The Press are making it all up.

You couldn't make it up.

I hope to god it is not the nice guy we always met on a Friday morning, why do people have to go and do these, please make drugs illegal, that is what causes half the problem.

this car park is claimed to be safe and secure due to the amount of CCTV camera's it has, not to mention the streets around have police CCTV,
like that was said before at 6am hardly a great deal of money in the place,
just another junky smack head out for what he can get,
I hope the attendant is ok and NCP are looking after him,

Ummm aren't drugs illegal? Last time I checked coke, ecstasy, heroin, weed are illegal. But people are always looking for something to mess up their minds. What you may have meant to say is why can't people do something with their lives instead of chasing that ever elusive high and having that consume their lives to the detriment of others? with the occasional excuse of it's so new it's not illegal yet. If you're referring to mephredone it'll become illegal then the chemists will retweak the chemistry and it'll legal again and the cycle will persist.
