THE mother of tragic teenager Jonathan Havron says she cannot begin to describe the pain she is feeling.
Joanne Wigmore said a part of her died with Jonathan when he drowned in the River Foss in York, and he would never be forgotten.
Mrs Wigmore, of Huntington, was paying an emotional tribute to her son on the Facebook site, RIP Jonny Havron.
Jonathan, 18, a Bishop Burton College student, went missing at the end of a night out in the city centre at the end of February.
Police launched a massive search for him, and Mrs Wigmore and her family launched a massive campaign to discover what had happened to him, leafleting revellers, shoppers and football fans before a York City match. The Press helped by printing hundreds of “missing” posters and distributing them to outlets across the region.
His body was spotted by an angler in the Foss last week and then recovered by police. An inquest was told he had drowned.
Mrs Wigmore said in her tribute: “Night night, God bless, my beautiful son. I cannot begin to describe the pain that I feel knowing you have left us.
“A part of me has died with you. They say that God takes the good ones young; well, when he took you, he got the very best.
“You will live on in our hearts forever, never to be forgotten. They say that time is a great healer, but there is not enough time left to heal the void that has been left by your untimely passing.
“Rest in peace Jonny, I love you so much. Mum.”
Meanwhile, Mrs Wigmore has revealed that after her son’s funeral, which takes place at York Crematorium at 11.30am next Monday, mourners are being invited to the Artful Dodger bar in Micklegate. She said this was her son’s favourite pub and “quite poignant”, as it was where he had his last drink.
