A FISH and chip shop worker is hanging up her apron after 38 years in the same work-plaice.
Jean Elliott, an employee at Frier Tuck in Heworth, will retire on Friday.
A well-known and popular figure in the area, she will now turn her attention to spending quality time with her grandchild.
But she has reassured owner James Morrison she would be willing to get back behind the counter again if she is ever needed.
