POLICE were called to three separate violent incidents in and around Selby funfair.
Officers were first called on Friday at 8.20pm to reports of a brawl in Scott Road.
A group of youths were reported to be fighting in the street, but when officers arrived they ran off towards Sainsbury’s.
No one is believed to have been badly injured in the fight and no arrests were made.
Officers were then called at 9.15pm to the funfair itself in Back Micklegate, after reports of an assault.
The police found a 15-year-old girl who said she had been hit, although she did not need to be taken to the hospital. Officers drove her home and a North Yorkshire Police spokesman said inquiries were continuing, although no arrests have yet been made.
On Saturday at 6pm, paramedics called the police after a 16-year-old boy was attacked.
The youth had allegedly been punched and kicked to the ground and suffered head injuries in the incident. He was taken to York District Hospital by ambulance, but was released later that night.
An 18-year-old man from Selby was arrested in connection with the incident and was released on police bail.
Inspector Chris Witty, of Selby Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “There were a few incidents over the weekend involving youths attending the fair.
“The incidents are being investigated and any offenders will be appropriately dealt with in due course.”
Despite rumours circulating Selby that a knife had been used in one of the incidents, the police spokesman said they had no reports of a blade being used.
