MEMBERS of the York To Gaza Ambulance team have been welcomed back to the city.
The Lord Mayor of York, Coun John Galvin, and Lady Mayoress Val Galvin held a reception for the volunteers at the Mansion House.
Following three months of intensive fundraising, with the support of the York community, more than £16,000 was raised to buy and equip a former NHS ambulance for a remarkable journey to occupied Palestine.
The ambulance was sent on its way by the Lord Mayor in early December for the five-week journey with vital supplies for the people of Gaza.
The work to support the people of Gaza continues and team member Heather Stroud will be speaking about her experience at an International Women's Week event in Room G33 at Kings Manor tomorrow, at 12.30pm.
The team is calling for support for the next Free Gaza convoy which will be taking relief supplies in by sea in the spring.
