THREE drunken youths who racially abused a woman as she and her friends travelled to York on a train are being hunted by police.

The torrent of jibes was aimed at an Oriental woman who was a passenger on the 7.05pm Harrogate to York service on Saturday, February 27.

The youths, who British Transport Police say were “rowdy and intoxicated”, got on the train at Starbeck and subjected the frightened 25-year-old to racial insults before they left the service at Poppleton.

The youths are all white and about 5ft 9ins tall.

One is described as being slim and aged 18, with cropped blond, slightly curly hair which was gelled at the front, and wearing a white top with blue jeans and dark shoes.

Another has a shaven head and was wearing a black jumper or cardigan, blue jeans and white trainers.

The third also has a shaven head and was wearing a white jumper and blue jeans.

Anybody with information should phone British Transport Police on freephone 0800 405040.
