Drivers badly hurt after car accident near Stillington

Updated: TWO drivers were airlifted to hospital after being cut out of their cars by firefighters.

The two men, one from Easingwold and one from Stillington, were driving a Honda Jazz and a Ford Escort when they crashed on the Easingwold to Stillington road at 12.40pm yesterday.

Both were airlifted to James Cook Hospital, in Middlesbrough, one by the Great North Air Ambulance and the other by an RAF Sea King helicopter.

Police said one driver suffered serious leg injuries and the other serious back injuries. The road was closed until about 7.30pm.
