THE Lord Mayor of York says he has the perfect idea for a Mothers’ Day gift – tickets to a charity floral demonstration at York’s Guildhall.
The event, on March 18, will be hosted by Janet Hayton, lead designer at last year’s Festival of Flowers at Westminster Abbey in London, who has also been part of a gold-medal winning team at the Chelsea Flower Show.
At the end of the evening, her arrangements will be raffled off in aid of York Against Cancer and Brunswick Organic Nursery and Craft Workshop, in Bishopthorpe.
All proceeds from the evening will go to these charities, which are the favourite good causes of this year’s Lord Mayor, Coun John Galvin.
Doors open at 6.45pm, and there will be refreshments available and stalls to browse and buy from before the demonstration starts at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £7.50 and are available from the civic office on 01904 551049, by emailing civicenquiries@york.gov.uk, or visiting the York Against Cancer office in North Moor Road, Huntington.
