Man arrested following A64 crash near Highwayman Café


A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving following an accident where an HGV hit a line of stationary vehicles.

The accident happened at around 10.55pm yesterday on the A64 outside the Highwayman Café and led to the road being closed until 8am this morning causing delays for commuters coming into York.

As a result of the accident a local man in his late 20s was taken to York Hospital. Firefighters initially said the man suffered only a small cut to his head, but police now say the injuries are serious but not life-threatening.

The man arrested, who is 39, is currently in police custody.
