PUPILS from a York village primary school got to meet a very important visitor at the opening of their new playground.
The youngsters from Skelton Primary School welcomed the Bishop of Selby, the Right Rev Martin Wallace, to open and give his religious blessing to the new play equipment located in the village.
The children were consulted on what play equipment they would like and eventually decided on a set of swings, roundabout, climbing frame and slide.
School head teacher Martin Halliday said: “We were delighted to welcome the bishop to our village. The new play area is just what Skelton needed, which was somewhere for the kids to gather and play.”
