A 95-YEAR-OLD former head teacher went back to the classroom to visit his former school.

Stanley Mings shared his memories with pupils at Heworth CE Primary School, where he was in charge from 1953 to 1976.

His visit marked the start of a project lead by teacher Debbie Rutland and the current head teacher, Dave Brown, to explore the school’s 140-year history. They are trying to piece together an archive and are planning other future events.

The school is looking for any ex-pupils or ex-members of staff who can contribute to the project to phone Mr Brown on 01904 424742 or e-mail Heworth.primary@york.gov.uk
