RESTLESS Genius, who looked an unlucky loser at Wolverhampton ten days ago, returns to the course this afternoon with every chance of gaining deserved consolation.

Trained at Norton by Brian Ellison, whose horses remain in good form, the sprinter goes for the Bet totepool To Support Your Sport Handicap over six furlongs and is napped to prevail in the hands of Tom Eaves.

Restless Genius started favourite on his latest outing, but he had to be content with fifth place, beaten only two lengths after suffering trouble in running before finding daylight all too late.

Restless Genius won over this course and distance earlier in the year. He has a rock solid chance of adding to his tally.

Former top jumps jockey Shane Broderick, who trains from a wheelchair in Ireland following a terrible fall which left him paralysed, has a horse in great heart in Fandango Boy, who runs in the totepool Handicap.

Winner of his last two starts, the eight-year-old goes well on a Polytrack surface. He will be partnered by Eddie Ahern, who rides this course so well.

Mick Easterby has his string in good nick and he can land both divisions of the amateur riders’ handicap with Jeer (2.10) and Desert Vision (2.40), a previous course winner. Oliver Greenall will give both horses valuable assistance.

At Southwell tomorrow, Easterby bids to win his fourth race off the reel with Shadows Lengthen in the Bet In-Play At totesport.com Handicap.

The Sheriff Hutton trainer has placed the gelding effectively to mop up his last three starts, the latest of them on this course on Saturday. He can deliver again, despite a penalty.

The nap vote goes to Ingleby Princess in the Book Your Tickets Online At southwell-racecourse.co.uk Handicap over seven furlongs.

David Barron’s charge, a winner over this course and distance two starts ago, has since run well in defeat. The five-year-old is taken to resume a winning role.

First Swallow won well on this course on his latest outing.

David Brown’s sprinter has been raised 5lb as a result of his one length beating of Embra and he is selected to follow up in the Hospitality At Southwell Racecourse Handicap.

Also worthy of attention are the consistent Follow The Dream (12.30) and Bel Cantor (1.00), who goes particularly well on this course and who, ironically, faces strong opposition from his Bill Ratcliffe-trained stable-mate Colorus, who is also most effective on this track.
