A CYCLIST is fighting for his life after being in a collision with a car on a roundabout in York.
The man, who is believed to be in his 50s or 60s, was taken to York Hospital by ambulance suffering from life-threatening head injuries and a broken arm.
Police said the accident happened on the roundabout between Rawcliffe Lane, Green Lane and Eastholme Drive at about 10.25am today.
Rawcliffe Lane remains closed between Reighton Avenue and Eastholme Drive while officers from the Collision Investigation Unit carry out inquiries.
Sergeant Julian Pearson said: “A Toyota Hilux and a pedal cyclist had a coming together on the roundabout. The vehicle had come from Eastholme Drive and was turning right on to Rawcliffe Lane. We don’t know which way the cyclist was going.”
He said the cyclist, who was wearing a flat cap and green clothing, had not yet been identified and the driver of the Toyota, a man in his late 30s, was helping police with their inquiries.
