POLICE have renewed their appeal for witnesses to an accident in which an 83-year-old pedestrian was killed.

The crash, which involved a pedestrian and a Ford Galaxy car, happened at about 5.30pm on Wednesday on the A1079 at Barmby Moor.

The driver of the car, a 69-year-old man from York, was not injured in the collision, but the pedestrian, named locally as Audrey Prince, was taken to York Hospital by ambulance and later died. It is believed she had returned from visiting her husband, Jack, at a care home in Market Weighton and was trying to cross the road when the accident happened.
