THIRTY children from a York primary school joined a massed choir of thousands at a special concert at Sheffield Arena.

Andy Acaster, teacher and music coordinator at Heworth CE Primary School, said the pupils, aged nine to eleven, joined schoolchildren from across Yorkshire for the Young Voices event earlier this week.

He said they sang songs ranging from classical to pop, having rehearsed on their own previously and then with the other choirs on the day, when the group All Angels and singer VV Brown also performed.

“They really enjoyed it,” he said. “They particularly enjoyed singing an 80s medley and a pop medley.”
