THREE students are holding an event at a York city centre gallery involving a piece of string in the hope of stimulating discussion on contemporary art.
Clare Nattress, Charlotte Barnes and Susanne Davies are all third-year contemporary fine art students at York St John University.
The trio are exhibiting a piece of string with labels attached at York Art Gallery and the event – entitled A Line of Thought – is to encourage discussion on public opinion of modern art.
The first day of the event was held yesterday and it will be repeated on Saturday from 10am to 5pm.
The artists will be on hand to speak to the public.
The students’ lecturer, Helen Turner, said: “The students have been very proactive in arranging this event at York Art gallery and are passionate about engaging the public in their work. It will be interesting to see the viewers’ reaction to the piece.”
