CLASSIC wartime French cars came to York as part of an event organised by the Traction Owners Club.

The Traction Avants were the same type of cars associated with the French Resistance, the Gestapo and even Inspector Maigret.

The families of a number of Second World War French aircrew who served at Elvington travelled in the Citroens to the Mansion House.

Elsewhere, charity fundraisers bubbled up at a special event in York. Bubble car owners and enthusiasts converged on the Judges Lodgings pub in Lendal, in the city centre.

The event was organised by the Micro Maniacs Club, and members shook buckets to raise money for Children In Need.

Members were on hand to answer questions, and members of the public were also able to get their pictures taken with the cars.
