Bonfire Night fireworks display at York Maze is going to be Huge

IT’S Huge and guaranteed to go with a bang on Bonfire Night when York Maze puts on its fireworks spectacular.

A few miles away, the November festival will be conducted at a more sedate pace as a torch-lit procession wends its way along the A166 near Stamford Bridge.

They are just two of the many fireworks and bonfire night celebrations expected to light up the skies of York, North and East Yorkshire this year.

York Maze owner Tom Pearcy said: “This year’s fireworks show is going to be Huge! The fireworks to music show will be bigger and better than last year, and Yorks number one party band Huge will be playing live.”

The ticket-only event starts with a fire juggling show at 6.30pm to be followed by the lighting of a giant bonfire at 7.30pm. The fireworks, with musical accompaniment was expected to begin at 8pm. Huge will be playing in the big barn at the Maze for an after-fireworks party. Those attending the event will be able to eat hog roast, hot dogs, baked potatoes, soup and parkin.

Tickets are only available through York Maze.

The Balloon Tree Farmshop’s bonfire celebrations will be a day later on Friday, November 6. It has organised a torch-lit procession which will begin in Stamford Bridge at 6pm.

The marchers will process from Stamford Bridge car park along the A166 Gate Helmsley road to the Balloon Tree where a giant bonfire will be lit after their arrival. The evening will also include fireworks with music.

Fireworks for private displays went on sale at licensed shops in York from last Thursday.

Elf & safety has deemed everyone must carry a bucket of water and look away when the fireworks begin. In spite of this I'll be there...

At leat York Maze is doing something again, unlike the pathetic York Council, who think nothing about spunking millions on failed HQ projects, but begrudge the kids of york a free organised display.

Wow this is fantastic news! That means that 3000 York people (or about 1.5% of the local population)can now see a firework display that is not even being held in York. The Council should be ashamed and The Press should ask Andrew Waller if he knows of any enterprising Event Management companies who could organise a display for the people of York, in York and at no cost to the Council - my sources tell me an offer has been on the table for the past year. Get it sorted!

Are Castle Howard having a go at showing how disorganised one can be again this year? Fireworks are on sale at garden centres 362 (excl Xmas day, New Year day and Easter Sun) days a year for private users you don't have to wait for a few empty shops to be short term leased to purchase Chinese explosives you know. CofYC won't do it as every minority with a celebration involving fireworks could insist on theirs being put on or sue for discrimination. I'd rather see private money being burnt than taxpayers. Perhaps St Peters will have a few fireworks to celebrate the new tennis courts?

Usual bunch of misinformed idiots moaning about the council. You would also moan if the council spent money on a fireworks display. York Maze is doing this to make a profit, not as a public service.

Password was cost-gain BTW
