Ten-year-old Sean Hamilton was killed in a hit-and-run smash while crossing Holgate Road in York.

I didn't know the lad but this has been absolutely awful news and has really upset me. No parent should have to suffer the loss of a child in such tragic circumstances. I've just started to allow my 7yo to cross the road outside to visit his pals but that policy is now under review. My thoughts go out to his family at this very difficult time. It is with a heavy heart that I go about today.

I did not know Sean, even so my condolence's go to his family who will obviously be heartbroken. The fact their lovely son's life has been taken taken away from them at such a young age is devastaing and word can not say how truelly I feel for them. Rest In Peace Sean

My wife & I heard the helicopter activity near our house, and we were wondering what had happened. Sadly the next day's news told all.
As I pedalled home across the Iron Bridge yesterday, I saw the Police spray paint markings on the road, the tributes from family and friends and the Mobile police station parked nearby. A truly heart rending sight.
One cannot help but feel a mixture of rage and grief, that this should happen to a young lad with his whole life ahead of him. My sincere sympathy to all Sean's family and friends.

Nothing anyone can say will make this tragedy make any kind of sense. It has left us devastated and stunned; the whole city is shaken.
I hope his family can find the strength to carry on for the sake of the other children, and remember the wonderful things that Sean brought to them. RIP.

I didn't know Sean, but I wanted to offer my deepest condolences to his family and friends. I can't imagine how you must be feeling to have lost someone so precious and after such a short life.

I have not known Sean, but I am a mother of little boy and can't even imagine the pain that his parents and siblings are going through now. I sympathize with you and feel so sad for you. RIP Sean.

my son ashley has asked me to put this down for him and he is here with me now.
my son has not been at our lady's school for long, but he was extremely upset yesterday when he found out that sean had died.
just to say that sean was the first little boy to befriend my son at his new school and he thought the world of sean, rest in peace little man our thoughts are now with sean's family from melanie and ashley talbot

r.i.p sean its been nearly 3 years now little bro i miss you so much it is so hard coming home from school or from being out with our mates and your not there it is so hard to face the fact that you are gone and not comong back you got your life taken from you at such a young age and its not right but now your in a better place looking down on us all i love you little bro forever in my heart i will never forget you my pictures of me and you will always hang on my wall above my bed and it will never change i will always remember you i love you so much xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
