ROYALISTS and Parliamentarians marched through York, as the city staged its first English Civil War Festival.
Some 365 years after the Great and Close Siege of York, actors and history enthusiasts took to the city’s streets to relive the drama.
The march, on Saturday, was part of the first day of the festival, which runs until next Monday. Some of the marchers, dressed in costume, carried flags and drums.
From 10.30am to 4.30pm today, at the Mansion House, there is a chance to see Fairfax’s waistcoat, a diorama of the Marston Moor battlefield and original weapons.
