I can't see the lorry in the picture. Was it a massive 40 tonner carrying nuclear missiles to warrant a chopper and all the blues and twos? Hope the driver is OK and not too overwhelmed by emergency personnel.

Although I have every sympathy for the driver I do feel however that the police could have done more to help with the flow of traffic on such a major road. Why wasn't low poppleton lane opened to help relieve the traffic or police officers helping to divert traffic like they used to in the "good old days". Just a suggestion!

Ooo-er an accident. Let's close the road for hours and hours and hours...
Oh for the 'good old days' - better get the road cleared asap so that traffic can move again.

I have seen Lorrys go round that roundabout as some speed so it dosn't suprise me. Same happen at the roundabout near desighner outlet not long ago. That was down to speed.Speeding round corner and load shifted, thus tipping lorry over.

He must have proper caned it round the roundabout, and if it is due to poor driving, is the driver/ lorry company going to pay for the cost of the emergency services?

Now there's a can of worms! Fancy making people responsible for their own actions on the road.. It'll never happen.

Bet he was using the mobile in one hand and steering with the other, watch any roundabout on the ring road any day and you will see HGVs and motorists flying across the roundabout with the mobile in one hand

Lol - you lot are so judgemental. How do you know the driver wasn't avoiding a child on a bike. Perhaps wait for the facts to emerge before taking your predjudices for walkies... ;-p

MarkW,the driver missing a chld on a bike, you jest, never seen a child on a bike on that roundabout ever and who would let a child ride a bike on the ring road. There was an error of driving and the police managed the accident badly, resulting in chaos for hours on the surrounding roads.

That was my son that was trapped in that lorry for 1 hour. You lot should be a shamed of yourselves that have left nasty hurtful comments like that. The air ambulance was called because they thought he might have lost both legs. He is 23 years of age. He was carrying tar and gas bottles. The engine could not be switched off. The weight of the lorry and the tar collapsed on him when the lorry overturned as he went round the roundabout. All the family are distraught. We do not want to see other people pathic opinions who have no idea of the situation involved. I hope you never have to go through the pain and suffering that we are all going through at the moment.

I can't belive the comments that narrow minded people are making on here. You should be ashamed of yourselfs. Thats my cousin that was being cut out that lorry and we're lucky to still have him.
You can all guess at what happened that day and make judgements but thats all they are, GUESS'S at what happened. You would all be stating differently if it was you or one of your family wouldn't you?
And as for some of you moaning about the bloody road being shut off aint it safer to shut a road and save a live rather than open it and risk more lives.
And one final thing for you selfish people to think about, just remember when you involved in a serious accident and the emergency services have to come to your aid actually how much money is being wasted on you; as some people clearly think it was wasted here.

You guys make me sick. Your first thought are its obviously the drivers fault, he was speeding or on his mobile. Have you no respect for the lads family. Did none of you think how serious the accident was to have to have all the medical resources out. Obviously not all you could think was oh what a waste of time money and resources and what a inconvience. I only hope that if you have to go through anything like this that people show you some consideration not that you deserve any. Maybe next time you wont be so quick to jump to conclusions and spare a few mins and think about who is involved.
