STRIKER Onome Sodje is “champing at the bit” to get back into York City’s starting line-up, according to manager Martin Foyle.

Sodje’s first goal of 2009 salvaged a valuable Blue Square Premier point for the Minstermen at Forest Green on Tuesday night.

It was also a timely reminder of the 20-year-old frontman’s finishing prowess, which has rarely been in evidence during a stop-start campaign.

The former Ebbsfleet United forward last started a game for Foyle on January 20, playing 65 minutes in the Setanta Shield defeat at Barrow.

Since the turn of the year he has been restricted to a bit-part role in the league and the FA Trophy, playing a meagre 184 minutes in nine substitute appearances.

His 85th minute equaliser at the New Lawn was his first goal in the league since he netted in the 3-1 victory over Ebbsfleet at KitKat Crescent on December 20.

Manager Foyle, who has consistently selected teenager Adam Boyes and Australian Daniel McBreen ahead of Sodje, was delighted to see the youngster end his drought.

“I am pleased Onome Sodje came on and got a goal,” he said.

“He has been champing at the bit and his performance levels in training have caught our eye. I am delighted for him.”

Sodje will be pushing for a recall to the starting line-up for Saturday’s FA Trophy semi-final second leg against Telford United at KitKat Crescent.

Meanwhile, free buses will be available for City supporters wanting to travel to Saturday’s home clash against the Bucks.

York Pullman will cover the following three routes: Bus one – Huntington WMC 1.05pm, New Earswick Shops 1.15pm, Haxby Shops 1.25pm, Wigginton Black Horse 1.30pm; bus two – Poppleton Railway Station 12.50pm, Boroughbridge Road, Acomb Fire Station 1pm, Holgate The Fox Pub 1.05pm, York Railway Station 1:25pm, Stonebow House 1:35pm; bus 3 – Hull Road, Badger Hill Shops 1pm, Tang Hall Lane Shops 1.10pm, Elm Park Way 1.25pm, Burnholme School 1.30pm, Ashley Park Bridge 1.40pm.
