A TEN-YEAR-OLD cyclist was taken to hospital after he was involved in a collision with a van – the second traffic accident in York involving a child in the last few days.
The boy suffered a cut to the eye in the collision with a white-coloured Mercedes Vito, which happened outside Osbaldwick Church, in Osbaldwick Lane, Osbaldwick, at 3.30pm yesterday.
Police said the boy sustained minor injuries in the crash, and that he was taken to York Hospital for a check-up. Officers appealed for witnesses to the accident to phone police, on 0845 60 60 24 7.
We reported yesterday how a young girl, who police said was aged about three or four-years-old, escaped with her life after her pushchair was clipped by a green Ford Fiesta outside the Royal Mail sorting office in Leeman Road.
The Yorkshire Ambulance Service said then that the car went over the girl, but the wheels missed her. However, she was left with facial and shoulder injuries, which were not thought to be life-threatening.
The child’s mother, who was pushing the buggy, suffered bruising. A spokesman for York Police later said the girl suffered a broken collar bone.
