WOULD-BE lawyers have the chance to meet practising solicitors and take a look around The College of Law in York at one of three open days this autumn.
The first open day was taking place today, with the opportunity to speak to tutors, current students and practising solicitors.
Visitors can also find out about the college’s award-winning Pro Bono work, which provides free legal advice to members of the local community while enabling students to gain practical experience.
Local community groups benefiting from the scheme include Independent Domestic Abuse Services York.
A second open day on November 5 will include a law fair, where students can talk to representatives from a range of regional and national law firms about the career opportunities available. A final open day will be held at the college, which is in Bishopthorpe Road, on November 22. Courses on offer include the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL), giving non-law graduates an entry route into the profession, and the Legal Practice Course (LPC), the next step towards a career as a solicitor.
