THE girlfriend of a man who tried to murder his mother was today convicted of attempting to murder her as well.

The jury at Leeds Crown Court declared Marrion Herrington, 42, of Lochrin Place, off Beckfield Lane, Acomb, guilty of the attempted murder of Anne Smith, now 82, of the same address.

Acting detective inspector Guy Wilson said: “It was a calculated and callous attack on an elderly woman as she lay asleep in her bed.”
