HIGH Wycombe are looking to put their season back on track tomorrow in a home match against Gore Court.
The South Hockey League outfit have still yet to win in the New Year after going four matches unbeaten before a Christmas break and suffered another defeat on Saturday against Ashford.
Wycombe were left ruing a poor start against the Middlesex side who scored an early goal. Duncan Parnis forced a great save from an Ashford defender on the line from a penalty corner but then two goals in quick succession by Ashford gave them a comfortable cushion which Wycombe failed to overcome.
Chris Goodchild gave Wycombe hope just before the interval but Ashford scored again after the break. Wycombe replied through Goodchild and Parnis hit the cross bar but the 4-2 result left Ashford claiming all three points.
Despite the poor start to the January, coach Peter Downer, remained upbeat about his side's performance.
He said: "We're still playing well enough but gone down to early goals and then it's been an uphill struggle.
"Confidence is pretty high and we just need a little bit of luck."
