TEENAGERS at a York secondary school have been involved producing a show in only five days to make the end of term.
Huntington School’s annual Show In A Week this year was Sweet Charity, an ambitious show to produce in such a short time. With various well-known songs such as Hey Big Spender and Rhythm of Life, both band and performers have worked intensively to put on the show.
A total of 188 students and 11 staff have been involved in the production, including performers, a 30-piece band, lighting, sound, costume, design, props and backstage crew. Many of the students have returned to school after exam leave to take part in the Show. In previous years the school has produced The Wizard of Oz, Oklahoma! and‘Anything Goes. Sweet Charity’has proved a really challenging choice, with complex musical arrangements and opportunities for creative choreography. The show has been a great success, with a full house at each of the two evening performances.

sensationalism, Fulford says...

It's an annual tradition which demands enormous amounts of extra work by all the teachers involved.
It obviously does not all get put together in 5 days: preparations of the musical score, rehearsals of the principal singers, design of the costumes and scenery have been going on for months.
Putting it all together is a terrific acheivement, and I say well done to all the staff and young people involved.
