POLICE are concerned for the welfare of a man who has been missing from his York home for four months.

Victor Bell, 39, of Tennent Road, Acomb, was last seen by his family on March 14 – when he told them he was going on a camping trip.

Although Victor is a regular camper, his family contacted police last week when they became concerned for his safety and welfare because it is out of character for him to be away for so long.

They are also worried about his health and concerned that he may have run out of money.

Victor is described as white, about 5ft 8ins tall, of slim build, with light brown hair, a pale complexion and brown eyes. He wears glasses.

He was wearing straight-legged jeans, a black shower-proof coat, a green fishing hat, tan walking boots and had a black rucksack. He is believed to be travelling on foot or public transport.

Victor has previously camped in Bridlington and Scotland and officers are appealing for anyone who may recognise him or may have seen a lone man camping who matches this description to get in touch.

Public transport workers who may have come into contact with Victor are also urged to get in touch. Anyone with any information is asked to phone York police on 0845 60 60 247.

Meanwhile, builders believe they may have seen missing Lisette Dunmore in York.

William Fairclough contacted The Press to say he and his colleagues were working in Marygate yesterday when they spotted a woman who they believed to be Lisette, 36, from Clifton, who has now been missing for 12 days.

They spotted a woman who looked like Lisette carrying a can of drink in Bootham. Then they saw yesterday’s paper and realised she could be the missing woman. Mr Fairclough said: “I only saw her face from the side but I think it looked like her.”

Acting Detective Inspector Adrian Gathercole, who is leading the investigation into Lisette’s disappearance, said officers would speak to Mr Fairclough about the sighting.
