The 31st Ryedale Open Art Exhibition will be showing the work of well over 100 local artists who live, or work, in the district. The exhibition, held in the Milton Rooms, Malton, is one of the most well-loved in the area with fierce competition for work to be shown.
Yvette Turnbull, arts officer for Ryedale District Council, said: “The standard of entries is always so high and it can be absolutely heartbreaking to have to choose between them. “This year I think the panel has had a particularly difficult job.
“We receive applications from all over the area and the works represent all styles and every imaginable technique. I love receiving day when I get to meet the artists and see the work for the first time.” The exhibition will be held from July 19 to July 26, excluding Sundays, and includes paintings, sculpture, textiles and photography. Much of the work is for sale and entry is free.
