RESIDENTS, relatives and staff at a North Yorkshire care home have declared World Superbike Champion James Toseland a wheelie nice chap after he dropped by to entertain them with a piano recital.
Bernard Fisher, manager of Oaklands Country Rest Home in Gilsthwaite Lane, Kirk Hammerton, said while some of the residents had been previously unaware of the 27-year-old Yorkshireman's fame and haul of racing trophies, they were all wowed by his prowess on the ivories.
Mr Fisher said Toseland, who claimed fourth place in the 2007 BBC Sports Personality Of The Year and has this season moved into MotoGP, stayed chatting with residents and guests for two and a half hours.
He said: "It went very well indeed. He was absolutely fantastic on the piano and the residents appreciated the music."
The care home is part of the Maria Mallaband Care Group (MMCG), which has developed into one of the UK's leading elderly care providers.
