TALENTED performers at a York university are putting on a week of public shows.
This week marked the start of Perform 08 in York, a four-day festival of performance including dance, live art, music, theatre and comedy events showcased by students at York St John University.
The four-day series of events comes to an end today, with BA Performance students from the university taking part in a range of performances to celebrate their achievements throughout the year with local, regional and national partners.
Perform 08 gives the university an opportunity to showcase the work and talents of its theatre, music and dance students to a wider audience.
A range of other events have been taking place across the four days, from solos to large ensembles, from the studio to the street.
Meanwhile, a York St John academic was part of the winning team in a unique 48-hour co-design challenge, which was specially organised by the Audi Design Foundation - an established charity which supports inclusive and sustainable design.
James Fathers, who is head of design practice at York St John University, was one of 28 Design experts from higher education institutions around the UK to take part in the competition.
The intensive event was attended by lecturers and researchers from some of the UK's top design universities.
The academics teamed up with design experts and service users of Leonard Cheshire Disability (LCD), the UK's leading disability charity, to develop a gardening solution that could be applied to any of the charity's 150 care home services and day centres around the country to enhance the experience for their residents.
Final designs were submitted to an expert panel of judges including designer Luke Pearson of Pearson Lloyd.
