Warriors’ Wildcats link in new coaching set-up

11:59am Saturday 17th May 2008

Selby Warriors ARLC Under-15s will have a new coaching team at U16s level next season - with Super League know-how.

Warriors open age prop Matthew Stevenson will become head coach and he will be assisted by open age second-rower Jason Roberts and Michael Em-mett, who plays for Super League team Wakefield.

Stevenson won the Pennine League club's forward of the year award and Roberts the player of the year. Emmett will also bring many of the Wildcats' top-flight training methods to the U16s.

The Warriors needed a new coach after Paul Gooding stepped down to spend more time with his family. His assistant, Paul Wilson, also stepped aside due to work commitments, and the club have thanked both for their efforts and hope Wilson might yet be able to coach the prospective U9s team.

The U16s' first training session will be on Thurs-day, June 12, at Brayton.
