Community drive hits Hy road

9:15am Friday 16th May 2008

YORK City in the Community will take their free football coaching to schools in Thirsk, Knaresborough and Selby next season after being provided with a new car.

Hatfields York in Nether Poppleton have donated a York City-branded Hyundai Tuscan for the community team's dedicated use.

About the gesture, City communications and community director Sophie McGill said: "The car will make a big difference as it will allow our coaches to travel more extensively in North Yorkshire. We were able to provide free football coaching to 42 schools in York in the past year and now we will be able to target areas further afield such as Selby, Knaresborough and Thirsk."

General manager of Hatfields York, Graeme Bailey, added: "We believe the work York City do in the community is very important and we are delighted to be assisting their positive initiatives with local children."
