Artists open studio doors

ART enthusiasts will have the chance to peep inside the studios of three Selby artists this weekend.
The trio will welcome members of the public into their places of work as part of the North Yorkshire Open Studios event.
The five-day celebration of art, now in its fourth year, is being supported by more than 100 contemporary artists across the county.
On Saturday and Sunday, and again during the Bank Holiday weekend, members of the public will be treated to a behind the scenes insight into the work of North Yorkshire's artists.
Coun Mark Crane, leader of Selby District Council, said: "I welcome the initiative and I think it is a great opportunity for the public of Selby.
"I hope as many people as possible take advantage of looking at what these talented people can do."
Blue Wilson, one of the three Selby-based artists taking part in the open studio event, is the Selby Community Trust's artist in residence.
She will be opening the doors to her studio in one of the attic rooms of Selby Community Centre, in Scott Road.
Visitors will be able to see Blue's works in progress, alongside finished paintings, sketches and catalogues of work.
The Loughborough University graduate went on to study at The Royal College of Art, before setting up her own studio in London and then Selby.
She has recently exhibited with a solo show in Newcastle and in group shows in Nottingham, Cumbria, Harrogate, Ripon, Leicester, Aldershot, Sheffield, London and Paris. Her attic studio will be open from 10am to 5pm on all five days.
Meanwhile, Helen Roddie, whose art is largely inspired by plants, will be showing off her printmaking at 78 Leeds Road, in Selby.
The work of Carol Holleran, who is based at 62 Willow Rise, in Thorpe Willoughby, includes drawing, painting, collage, printmaking and digital media.
